Traditional analogue two-way radio provides group emergency communications; a correctly installed system should provide site-wide communication during an emergency. Relatively low in cost, the importance of a robust resilient system should not be underestimated particularly for sites engaged in hazardous operations. Good team communications is the key to an effective response. Radio is also an effective tool for day t o day operations. The man-down option is a useful feature; The AlertNet system includes an option to monitor and automate the response to man-down / lone-worker alarms. Sigteq are application partners with and supply Motorola, Entel and HYT two-way radios. Equipment is available in both AtEx and non-AtEx models. All radio brands include man-down lone worker alarms as an option.
Next generation digital two-way radio, offers many benefits over conventional radio, including secure crystal clear secure speech, extended range, two way SMS like messaging, GPS tracking, lone-worker and more. Digital radio utilizes less radio spectrum; two simultaneous speech channels are possible in the same allocation as a conventional radio. Also digital radio infrastructure allows sites to be linked over IT networks to provide low cost multi-site mobile communications systems. The effectiveness of a resilient site radio system should not be underestimated particularly for sites engaged in hazardous operations. Good team communications is the key to an effective response, reliance on fixed or mobile phones to keep in touch during an incident is not recommended.
Sigteq’s range of portable worker safety and anti-threat devices include stand-alone GSM units also conventional and digital two-way radios.
